This week I was made aware of the passage on this Earth of SAARTJIE BAARTMAN, a young woman also known as THE HOTTENTOT VENUS. ABDELLATIF KECHICHE ( L'Esquive-La Graine et le Mullet) directed this troubling movie about the incredible stupidity of supposedly civilized human beings. The beautiful YAHIMA TORRES is moving as the woman who became an object of morbid fascination because of her uncommon body shape. The movie opens this April First in Montreal.
My heart is broken for SAARTJIE.

Cette semaine je suis devenue consciente du passage sur cette terre de SAARTJIE BAARTMAN, une jeune femme aussi connue comme LA VÉNUS NOIRE . ABDELLATIF KECHICHE ( L'Esquive-La Graine et le Mullet) réalise ce film troublant sur l'incroyable stupidité d'êtres humains supposément civilisés. La très belle YAHIMA TORRES donne une interprétation émouvante de la femme qui est devenue l'objet d'une fascination morbide à cause de la forme inusité de son corps. Le film ouvre à Montréal le premier Avril.
Mon coeur est brisé pour SAARTJIE.
