Allemagne: L'Art et la nation

English Below

ENGLISH

CARL SANDBURG

I saw one movie in English: The Day Carl Sandburg Died directed by Paul Bonesteel. The only thing I ever knew about CARL SANBURG is when I saw a photograph where he is sitting on a sofa with MARILYN MONROE and under the photo it says Marilyn Monroe with Carl Sandberg. I so enjoyed discovering this brilliant man that was a poet, a journalist, a television commentator, and an advisor to American Presidents like FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT and JOHN F. KENNEDY. I enjoyed his poetry that is concise with rich imagery of an America that is lost forever. Among his great accomplishments there is a huge biography of President ABRAHAM LINCOLN, and one work I am happy he did, he preserved the folk songs poor Americans would chant during some of that nation's harshest times.
