As you may know by now, I LOVE the exhibitions offered by the Canadian Center for Architecture ( CCA )! Every time I go I emerge with a stimulated brain and I feel excited about having new abilities to tackle any life situation. That is how wide ranging architectural thought is. Curator GIOVANNA BORASI and her curatorial and research teams have brought together amazing historical events that address a wide range of issues regarding life on Earth as human beings. Here is a perfect quote from Ms Borasi:
"The groups represented in The Other Architect remind us that architecture has to do more than just resolve a given set of problems - it has to establish what requires attention today." Bottom Line!
The 60s were years of serious boundary breaking thought experiments that affected many architects of the time. The exhibition begins in this time frame. You will see 700 documents disposed in the various galleries in such a way that you can spend time with the archives to revisit the groundbreaking work of such avant-guard thinkers as BUCKMINSTER FULLER and GREG LYNN to name but two. Then the exhibition will bring you up to speed on more contemporary projects.
Among the teams you will explore, AMO, a group founded by REM KOOLHAAS and DAN WOOD ( 1999 ) to operate as a think tank inside and outside institutional boundaries; IAUS ( 1967 - 1983 ) instigated by PETER EISENMAN in New York to bridge the gap between theoretical and pragmatic aspects of architecture.
There is a comprehensive catalogue that accompanies the exhibition and it contains 350 reproductions of original material to assist any project you would wish to tackle inventively. Be sure to check the CCA page to find out about the various lectures and activities being offered.

Comme vous devez le savoir à présent, J'ADORE les expositions offertent par le Centre Canadien d'Architecture ( CCA )! À chaque fois que je m'y rend, j'émerge avec un cerveau stimulé et je me sens excitée d'avoir acquis des nouvelles abilités pour affronter n'importe quelle situation que la vie m'envoit. C'est cela l'ampleur de la pensée architecturale. La commissaire GIOVANNA BORASI ainsi que ses équipes de conservateurs et de chercheurs ont rassemblé ensemble des événements historiques étonnants qui se sont occupés d'un vaste éventail de questions qui concernent notre vie sur la Terre en tant qu'êtres humains. Voici une citation parfaite de Madame Borasi:
"Les groupes représentés dans L'architecte, autrement nous rappellent que l'architecture peut faire bien plus que résoudre un ensemble prédéterminé de problèmes: elle doit révéler ce qui aujourd'hui nécessite notre attention." Pour faire ça court!
