Spring is approaching and so is the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF FILMS ON ART lovingly known as FIFA. Every March, as the snow is thawing M. RENÉ ROZON, founder of the annual event, and his team gather together some of the best movies about art from around the world. The Festival will begin officially on March 17 to last until March 27 but journalists are now allowed to have private screenings. This morning I went to see PARIS THE LUMINOUS YEARS, a film by PERRY MILLER ADATO about why Paris was the center of the most effervescent creativity at the beginning of the last century.
The film takes us back to Montmartre and Montparnasse as great artists like PICASSO, CHAGALL, MIRO, MODIGLIANI arrive to the city young beautiful poor full of creative force. We meet the poets like GUILLAUME APOLLINAIRE, ANDRÉ BRETON and more. Then the movie evolves and takes us to the theater, to the ballet where we have a very rare look at NIJINSKY, a myth in his lifetime, in motion.
I loved to see JOSEPHINE BAKER dance in the swinging cabarets of her time. And the great American writer ERNEST HEMINGWAY! And music Jazz! What a delightfully fulfilling film!

Le printemps approche ainsi que le FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DU FILM SUR L'ART tendrement appelé FIFA. Chaque mois de Mars, pendant que la neige fond, M. RENÉ ROZON, fondateur de l'événement annuel, et son équipe assemblent certains des meilleurs films sur l'art réalisés autour du monde. Le Festival débute officiellement le 17 Mars et dure jusqu'au 27 Mars mais les journalistes ont la permission de visionner les films en privé. Ce matin j'ai vu PARIS, LES ANNÉES LUMINEUSES, un film de PERRY MILLER ADATO se questionnant sur pourquoi Paris était le centre de la plus grande effervescence créative du début du siècle dernier.
Le film nous transporte à Montmartre et Montparnasse au moment où sont arrivés à la ville des grands artistes comme PICASSO, CHAGALL, MIRO, MODIGLIANI jeunes beaux pauvres et plein de ferveurs créative. On rencontre les poètes tels GUILLAUME APOLLINAIRE, ANDRÉ BRETON et plus. Ensuite le film évolue et nous transporte au théatre, au ballet où nous avons un regard très rare sur le danseur NIJINSKY, un mythe de son vivant, en action.
J'ai adoré voir JOSEPHINE BAKER danser dans les cabarets huppés de son temps. Et le célèbre auteur Americain ERNEST HEMINGWAY! Et la musique, le Jazz! Quel film richement satisfaisant!
