I thoroughly enjoyed this movie that mixes the supernatural with science fiction and action with a pinch of comedy. The beginning is a bit jumbled for me since I did not see the first film. In the beginning I got that a secret organization made clones of special children with superpowers and that a special police force was trying to take them down.
The action is so hot! There are some Crouching tiger. Hidden dragon like fight scenes but modernized to appeal to savvy Gen Z. The looks of the young witches is impeccable.
The cinematography comes to life during the battles with some choreographies that caught me totally by surprise. That is what I enjoy most, when a move I had never seen pops up on the screen.
There is a lot of blood and slicing and dicing in this fast paced movie starring Shin Si-ah as the girl, Kim Da-mi, who won Fantasia's Best Actress Award in 2018 for The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, as Goo Ja-yoon and Jo Min-su as Dr. Baek.
The screening will be on Friday July 29th at 9:45 pm. DETAILS
A mom and her two daughters live in a wonderful but isolated old house. There is something odd going on there and the children cannot walk past the limits of the house grounds for fear of facing the wrath of the witch of the lake.
An elegant psychological drama unfolds as the eldest daughter starts to question the premise of their isolation and wants to confront the witch.
The viewing in Fantasia is past but keep your eyes open for this nice classy short film.
