A slow paced horror movie that nonetheless poses intriguing questions that today's and tomorrow's young people will seem to face unavoidably. An obsession with perfection that revolves around controlling food intake. It made me feel that the growing madness of climate change gives us all a deep sense of powerlessness that is the counterpoint to the compulsion to control food intake.
Mia Wasikowska is Ms Novak, who quickly beguiles some students and creates a private group called Club Zero. Her specialty is nutrition, and she proceeds to train the students in conscious eating to help them eat less. The young cast Florence Baker, Samuel D Anderson, Luke Barker, Ksenia Devriendt, and Gwen Currant are perfect to create the eerie atmosphere of this movie where their characters evolve to become like a cult.
Jessica Hausner is the director of this unhurried study of youth and corrupt adults that culminates in a tragedy.
