Mtl à Table

The yearly event focused on presenting Montreal, MTL à Table restaurants to the international visitors is about to begin. No matter which area of the city you are staying at Montreal's public transportation system (STM) system can get you to the restaurants of your choice on time. Click on the link http://www.stm.info/en and you will get a detailed route and time to reach your destination.

Here are a few of my favorite choices with very easy access by bus or metro:

In the area known as The Village there are several restaurants that offer a wonderful atmosphere on top of great service and delicious cuisine. This year all the participating restaurants were challenged to prepare their menus with Quebec grown ingredients whether these be the meats, the vegetables, or the spices.

There is AU PETIT EXTRA on Ontario street that has a wonderful reputation for service quality and ambiance. For this event they propose the following three main courses in their Table d'Hôte Menu: "Nagano" pork filet with honey and balsamic vinegar, sautéed artichokeMonk fish in red wine stew with mussels and Stimpson's surf clamBraised Ox cheek, Pebre sauce.

LE SALOON is one of my favorite places to have a burger and fries! For this event they have put together a succulent Table d'Hôte, here are their three main courses: Grilled-cheese on round loaf bread, crafted smoked ham, Victor et Berthold cheese, caramelized apple, old cheddar, served with green salad or french fries with a side of green saladQuebec salted pork belly, root vegetables warm saladDuck confit Shepard’s pie: homemade cream corn, mashed Yukon Gold potatoes with parmesan cheese.

It is part of the EUROPEA franchise that is known worldwide for it's excellence. Take a look at their three main course choices: Quebec grain-fed veal stuffed with Prosciutto, parmesan and sage, potatoes, seared mushrooms, roasted salsifis served with watercress and fresh herbsLobster bisque risotto, served with shrimps, asparagus, spinach and enoki mushroomsParmesan and mushroom Gnocchis, truffle, arugula salad and truffle emulsion.

A lot to think about before deciding what to sample.
