Presented this past week at Fantastic Fest in Austin Texas for its North American premiere this movie stars Olivier Rabourdin as Gabriel Laurens, a private detective specializing in adultery investigations, and Louise Leroy as Jade, his teenaged niece that is the daughter of his twin brother François. Jade begs him to investigate his death which she finds highly suspicious.
The movie takes a while to take off but there are some scenes of subdued humour in this film that are priceless. For the most part, Gabriel is a deadpan disillusioned man contrasted by his sexy looking nervous and fidgety niece Jade. Although he appears so out of it that everyone underestimates him: the widow, Shelby played by Kate Moran; Valery, leader of a biker gang played by Marc Barbé; and the crooked cop Alain played by Rodolphe Burger, a rock icon!
I enjoyed this movie rippled with twisted plots and thoroughly insane characters. The ending is unbearable but I can't tell you why. Be on the look out for theatrical release on the big screen or streaming service.

At the very moment Hollywood is on strike, Charles Band and Neal Marshall Stevens write a story using a totally AI generated female lead, AImee. Charles Band also directs the film.
The movie opens to a hacker, Scott Keyes played by Dallas Schaefer, masturbating as he is watching porn while his accomplices, Hunter (Felix Merback) and Gazelle (Faith West) bring him a coveted piece of software he has wanted for a long time. I could not find the credits for who is responsible for the creation of AImee but with the available software it's pretty easy for anyone to design her.
Although the script is not sophisticated at all, featuring a lot of sex and yelling, it could very well illustrate the real life of a band of hackers. So I don't discredit the screenwriters for that. Although it flaunts that it is the first movie in human history to feature a totally AI generated character, the story resembles many movies about obsessive attractions.
But you can judge for yourself as the movie is now streaming at Full Moon Features.
