Described as a horror/comedy this film is sure to take you on the wildest ride of your life. You will either love it or hate it. Ari Aster is the writer and director of this phantasmagoric nightmare that lasts three hours. It is that train wreck you can't take your eyes off, you hold in your pipi until you are about to burst, then rush to the toilet and back so as to not miss one minute of the weird stuff that is going on!
From reality to fantasy, Beau, played by Joaquin Phoenix, teen Beau by Armen Nahapetian, and boy Beau by James Cvetkovski, is always running for his life. In my view, the movie exaggerates features of our modern life that are recognizable like the crazy city street where Beau lives that we see early in the film. The fear that it inspires in him is similar to the fear we do sometimes encounter in city life.
The cast is extraordinary! Some of Broadway's biggest names and personal faves like Patti Lupone, Nathan Lane, Bill Hader and Amy Ryan create the zaniest characters that are at once funny and terrifying!
