FNC - WALKING DISTANCE by Alejandro Guzman Alvarez

I have just returned from a movie that charmed beyond words. WALKING DISTANCE directed by ALEJANDRO GUZMAN ALVAREZ. The screenplay is ITZEL LARA's first writing credit for the cinema. The story is so touching and human it will not be her last. The movie opens as the lead character played by LUCA ORTEGA, Federico Sanchez aka Fede, is waking up. Right away we see the frailty of the man dealing with morbid obesity and the consequent loneliness his body has imprisoned him into. He struggles with every step and at this point you are wondering what kind of movie will this be? He works everyday making jewelry, listening to music, looking out the dirty windows. One day as his sister RosareaMARTHA CLAUDIA MORENO, and her husband RamonMAURICIO ISAAC, drop by for their weekly visit, he is reminded of how much he loves photography. He musters all his strength to walk a couple of blocks to the camera shop where PauloJOEL FIGUEROA, a lonely teenager who loves comic books, will develop some of his old films and become a friend to the lonely man. Like a beautiful symphony the characters in all their voices and tones love and support Fede who is extremely fragile but so lovable. I ADORED THIS FILM! It is so nice to see a great movie about ordinary people loving each other! The audience laughed and cried and applauded at the end as I hope you will have a chance to do.

This movie is part of Festival du Nouveau Cinéma's International Competetion
