At the movies: ABIGAIL

TRAILER

In a world inundated with vampire tales, 'Abigail' emerges as a cinematic force, defying norms and delivering a blood-soaked narrative that leaves audiences mesmerized. The opening sequence is a ballet of suspense, as a young girl is snatched away with chilling precision, setting the stage for a journey into the macabre depths of a secret world.

Nestled within a grotesque mansion adorned with hidden passageways, the film swiftly unravels its sinister plot, pulling viewers into a whirlwind of unexpected twists and turns. Yet, amidst the horror, 'Abigail' masterfully weaves in sparks of dark humour, creating a tapestry of entertainment that is as witty as it is gruesome.

"It's a hard knock life..." echoes through the halls, a haunting refrain that underscores the harsh realities of this nightmarish realm. Dialogues like "Junkies don't share candy" and "This is not what I signed up for" inject a raw authenticity into the characters' struggles, while romantic entanglements add a layer of complexity to the narrative.

The film's visual palette is a symphony of shocks and explosions, with gory splatters and horrifying fake blood lending an air of visceral excitement to every scene. 'Abigail' doesn't shy away from the grotesque; it revels in it, offering audiences a thrilling, creepy, and suspense-laden experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

'Abigail' emerges not just as a movie, but as an immersive journey into the dark recesses of horror cinema—a ride that is as exhilarating as it is terrifying. It's a lot of fun!

I enjoyed the cast, principally: Melissa Barrera as Joey ; Dan Stevens is Frank ; Alisha Weir is Abigail ; William Catlett is Rickles ; Kathryn Newton is Sammy. The Director is Matt Bettinelli-Olpin.
